Memory Care Workshop

Jan 26, 2024 01:35PM ● By Alan Allegra
“Alzheimer’s” is one of those medical words that makes us very uncomfortable. It is a diagnosis we don’t want to hear. What do we do when we or a loved one is diagnosed with dementia? Such a diagnosis plunges one into a sea of uncertainty with no compass.

Being a caregiver for a dementia patient is a serious and often long-term commitment. Caregivers can be family members or professional teams that may include social workers, case managers, RNs, administrators for personal care homes and assisted living, administrators for skilled nursing facilities, physical therapists, occupational therapists, and speech therapists. Where can you turn for help?

We are proud to announce that the Lehigh Valley Aging In Place Coalition will continue its commitment to community education by hosting a special event on June 5, 2024, geared toward caring for those with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia. There will be two sessions—one for family caregivers and another session offering continuing education (CEU) credits for professionals.

You will have dozens of questions during your journey as a caregiver or as someone who will need a caregiver, and there will be dozens of exhibitors with whom you can freely speak at the symposium. The LVAIP Symposium will showcase a wealth of resources, experts, and solutions addressing many aspects of aging and senior care.

The symposium’s guest speaker will be Amanda Bulgarelli, Lead Mentor, Trainer, Speaker, and Leader with Positive Approach to Care®. Amanda earned her master’s degree in Educational Leadership and Administration. Through years of teaching, she has grown her ability to give each person in the room an individual experience while learning new information or skills. As a PAC speaker, Amanda uses the Adult Experiential Learning Cycle to help everyone learn in their own way.

Now that you know where to go for answers, mark your calendar for June 5, 2024. Visit https://lvaipsymposium.org/ for location and times. There is also information for potential exhibitors and sponsors.
