Giving Back

Rosie, as everyone knows her, started getting involved in personal health and wellness over 12 years ago, and health coaching and teaching nearly 7 years ago. A certified instructor, Rosie conducts classes at numerous health centers and fitness centers throughout NEPA. Her love for health and fitness has helped hundreds of seniors so far!

“I try to keep things fun and interesting in my classes as we navigate on our journeys for better health,” says Rosie. “It was especially important during COVID, when times were really scary and tough.” A lot of Rosie’s members do a lot of volunteer work in their communities and weren’t able to do so during that time period. “So, that’s where my idea for ‘Cold Hands, Warm Hearts Winter Coat Drive’ came from. I also organized the ‘Seniors to Soldiers’ letter writing program,” an initiative in coordination with the Area Agency on Aging, Luzerne County.

The “Seniors to Soldiers” letter-writing program collected 211 letters that were mailed to deployed soldiers in September 2022.

The “Cold Hands, Warm Hearts Winter Coat Drive” has been very successful since it originated:
• January 2021 (1st year)—175 coats donated to United Charities
• January 2022 (2nd year)—300 coats donated to United Charities
• January 2023 (3rd year)——500 coats donated to Catholic Relief Services (CRS) and United Charities (UCH)

You can participate in Rosie’s:
  • Geri-fit program, an evidence-based balance and strength program that includes low-impact workouts focused on strength, flexibility, and balance
  • Zumba Gold class, usually her larger participant group with as many as 30 people in attendance
  • Arthritis Foundation class, focused on increasing strength, improving mobility, coordination, and balance while decreasing pain, stiffness, and fatigue
  • Matter of Balance class, focused on reducing the fear and risk of falling while offering an exercise program to increase activity level
  • Healthy Steps in Motion class, focused on reducing the risk of falling by increasing strength and improving balance.
Please contact Rosie directly for class locations, dates, and times.
